This camera is a lot heavier than all the Sony Point and Shoot cameras i have used until now.

NEGATIVES
1. Horrible Rotating Wheel. Many of the functions you can use the click wheel, but for the selections you have to use the rotating wheel, it is a nightmare getting use to this
2.Lag time to shoot is still slow, a common problem with compact point and shoots
3. No touch screen
4. Not slim - Stubby and a wee bit heavy
5. If you dont like the ubiquitous silver color - no other choice
Good pocket camera

This camera does what youd expect from a small Canon. It a good pocket camera, but wont replace an SLR if you are serious about photos. Also, the slider that selects camera, video, or scene mode tends to get caught when pulling it out of a pocket and you end up with a lot of 1 second videos while you switch it back to camera.

I did a lot of research before purchasing this camera and I am very happy to have made this choice. I bought this camera for as a gift and coupled it with a SanDisk Extreme III 4GB SDHC card. The start-up time is almost instantaneous and the cycle-time between shots is also superb. I really like the circular controller on the back as its tactile nature is very manageable. It focuses super fast and with its face detection feature you can see right away how many people will be in focus. It has a very useful zoom range, while not ultra-wide for close ups it does an excellent job. I dont have the time to write about all the useful features this camera has, rest assured its a very well thought out compact and stands out in the sea of cutesy and trendy models from this and other manufacturers.

I lost my Canon 750 and replaced it with the SD790IS and I like it even more than the 750 which was a good camera.

I absolutely love my new 790! Takes amazing pictures, and the video recordings are great also! My favorite feature is the Color Accent, you have to try it out. It allows you to take pics in black and white and color accent any color you chose. It is small, and I can take it everywhere. I also purchased the Canon PSC-55 Deluxe Leather Compact Case for it and its a perfect fit (if you want a case that will hold extra battery or memory card, this case is not for you). You wont be disappointed with this camera!
